In the land known as Cornwall,which is steeped with history, myth and mystery,lies a town known as Launceston or 'Lanson'

This town is known to harbour a slumbering beast,this beast known to all of this land as the Launceston Half Marathon.

Launceston is situated high above the Kensey valley,with the town itself dominated by the towering remains of a 12th century Norman Castle, built by William the Conquerers brother 'Robert of Mortain.

Since those days long ago,there have been many attempts to defeat the towns defences,once the capital of Cornwall, it stands high,proud and imposing to all who attack from any direction.

This beast of Cornwall Stirs each July to once again place fear into all those who choose to attack.

In recent years many have suceeded in taming this beast of Cornwall and return to their homelands bearing medallions of pride for their achievements,only to voluntarily return again and again in future years for a further challenge.

July 6th 2008 will see this beast rise and stir once more in a further attempt to place fear back into all it's attackers. Will these brave souls of 2008 be victorious in their attempt to tame the 'Real Beast' of Cornwall?

Will you be one of them? The decision is yours, and yours alone. Should you dare undertake this task,be prepared! for pain will be inflicted to all those who dare to conquer this slumbering beast,before reaching sanctuary in 'Coranation Park' 13.1 miles later.This Beast feeds from the energy of humans of 17 years and above so only the brave need apply!

The first 4 males and females lucky enough to survive this quest and return to sanctuary first,will recieve purses of £100, £50,£25 and £15, others will recieve trophies in age categories from 17 to 70 years. All those who conquer the beast will recieve medallions of pride, to tell their children, and their children's children the tale of the real beast of Cornwall, and the part they played in it.

This so called 'Beast of Cornwall' throws down the gaunlet to all those who read this, and invites those who wish to accept this callenge, to enter the quest in July 2007.
